MODULE: CHESS

Chess

Our Chess module is a full-rules board, not a simplification: castling, en passant, a proper promotion picker, and automatic check, checkmate, and draw detection, all synchronized live between two players. Add an optional chess clock at 3, 5, or 10 minutes per side, or play untimed. No opponent online?

Recruit one of three practice bots rated roughly 800, 1200, and 1600 that joins the lobby like a real player. Move by click or drag and drop, review the full move history step by step after a sharp exchange, and resign with dignity when the position collapses. Wins by checkmate, timeout, or resignation pay 25 points to the lobby scoreboard.

Rules of Engagement

  • 01Standard chess rules apply in full: castling, en passant, pawn promotion, and automatic check, checkmate, and draw detection.
  • 02Choose a clock before the match: no clock, or 3, 5, or 10 minutes per side. Running out of time loses the game.
  • 03Only legal moves are accepted; the board highlights what each piece can do.
  • 04Promoting a pawn opens a picker so you choose queen, rook, bishop, or knight.
  • 05Play a friend in the lobby, or add a practice bot at beginner (800), intermediate (1200), or advanced (1600) strength.
  • 06Winning by checkmate, timeout, or resignation earns 25 points.

Strategic Intelligence

  • Fight for the center early with pawns and knights before developing your bishops.
  • Castle within the first ten moves in most games; an uncastled king is the root of most fast losses.
  • Do not move the same piece twice in the opening without a concrete reason.
  • On a 3-minute clock, simple healthy moves beat brilliant slow ones. Save deep calculation for the 10-minute setting.
  • Use the move history review after each game. Finding the one move where it went wrong is worth more than ten extra matches.

Tactical Suitability

For friends who want a serious board in the same lobby as their party games, from casual players relearning the moves against the beginner bot to rivals running timed matches all evening. Spectators in the lobby can watch the board live, which makes for surprisingly good side entertainment on game night.
